Thesis Awards: 6 Graduates Honored
Each year, the Solvay Brussels School honors the best theses written by its students, as well as their academic achievements. Around twenty students had the opportunity to present their thesis through a poster, in front of a jury composed of faculty members. The six winners were awarded during the proclamation cocktail.
The winners of the 2023-2024 thesis awards:
Eugène de Barsy Prize:
Asma Sebai, a graduate of the Master's in Economic Sciences, specializing in Business Economics, received the award for the best thesis in management.
- Thesis title: "Gender Diversity in Belgian Boardrooms and Corporate Performance: A Study of the Gender Quota Law"
- Thesis Supervisor: Paula Gobbi
Etienne Sadi Kirschen Prize:
Victor Westergren, a graduate of the Master's in Economic Sciences, specializing in Economic Governance and Public Policy in Europe, received the award for the best thesis in economics.
- Thesis title: "Unraveling the Political Polarisation on Twitter in the Aftermath of George Floyd’s Death: A Computational Text Analysis"
- Thesis Supervisor: Pierre-Guillaume Méon
Leblanc de Leener Vice-Dean Prize:
Adrien Orcel, a graduate of the Master's in Economic Sciences, specializing in Business Economics, received the Leblanc de Leener prize, awarded to a student with an exemplary academic track record, culminating in an outstanding thesis. The thesis must address a sustainable development topic.
- Thesis title: "Economic Analysis of the Impact of Littering in Public Spaces in the Municipality of Etterbeek"
- Thesis Supervisor: Micael Castanheira
Leblanc de Leener Dean Prize:
Soukaina El Yagoubi, a graduate of the Master's in Management Engineering, specializing, received the Leblanc de Leener prize, awarded to a student with an exemplary academic track record, culminating in an outstanding thesis.
- Thesis title: "Support for Success in Higher Education: Analysis of Three Measures Offered to First-Year Bachelor Students in Economic Sciences at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management"
- Thesis Supervisor: Philippe Emplit — Co-Supervisor: Catherine Dehon
André Farber Prize:
Audric Neu Arend, a graduate of the Master's in Management Engineering, specializing, received the André Farber Prize. This award recognizes an excellent thesis in finance, corporate finance, portfolio theory, or related to financial instruments.
- Thesis title: "ESG Integration in Equity Portfolios: An Empirical Study on Financial Performance across US and European Markets"
- Thesis Supervisor: Hugues Pirotte
Fonds Marie-Christine Adam Prize:
Escander Adouni, a graduate of the Master's in Management Engineering, specializing, received the Fonds Marie-Christine Adam Prize, which recognizes a remarkable track record in the field of finance within the faculty.
